Shiatsu wörtlich übersetzt bedeutet „Fingerdruck“ und ist eine Kommunikation zwischen Shiatsu Praktiker*in und Klient*in.

Ziel ist es, den Fluss des Kis (Lebensenergie) zu fördern, welches sowohl im physischen wie auch mentalen, emotionalen und spirituellen Bereich wirkt. Eventuelle Blockaden werden korrigiert, die diesen Fluss stören könnten.

Behandelt wird entlang der Meridiane (Kanäle für das Ki). Ausgangspunkt ist die Bauchregion (Hara), wobei jedoch der gesamte Körper in die Behandlung miteinbezogen wird.

Die Behandlung findet an der bequem bekleideten Klient*in statt, traditionell wird diese am Boden auf einer speziellen Matte (ev. mit Pölstern als Hilfsmittel) ausgeführt, wobei bei Bedarf auf eine Therapieliege ausgewichen werden kann.

In der Praxis werden zusätzlich zum Fingerdruck auch die Hand, der Ellenbogen oder das Knie eingesetzt, wobei Rotationen, Dehnungen und rhythmische Bewegungen die Behandlung ergänzen können.

Shiatsu kann ausgleichend, beruhigend, aber auch belebend wirken. Dabei werden die Selbstheilungskräfte von Körper, Geist und Seele sowie der Fluss der Lebensenergie in uns angeregt.
